2015-2016 Travel Program: France and the Sisters of St. Joseph

Travel Program 2015-2016: France & The Sisters of St. Joseph
July 11-July 20, 2016

Please join us on a spiritual pilgrimage to understand the origins of our Sisters of St. Joseph in France. A year in the planning, this amazing journey will give a historical perspective to CSJ heritage and its charism, as seen lived out at the Academy of Our Lady of Peace. The trip will also provide a faith experience as we travel to Le Puy en Velay, Lyon and other destinations throughout France, including Paris.

We have coordinated our trip with the Sisters of St. Joseph at its International Centre in Le Puy en Velay. In addition to other important sites in this charming and quaint city of cobblestone streets, the Sisters will guide us as we visit “the Kitchen” in Le Puy en Velay where those first women, the Council of 6, founded the CSJs in 1650. In Lyon, again guided by our Sisters, we will visit the Heritage Museum that contains many historical CSJ documents and displays as well as the original bedroom with personal items of our dear Mother St. John Fontbonne.

Also included in the tour is a visit to Avignon. Ringed by incredibly preserved 800-year-old stone ramparts, graceful Avignon’s turn as the seat of papal power from 1309-1377 bestowed the city with a treasury of magnificent art and architecture, none grander than the massive medieval fortress and the Palais des Papes, designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.

We will end our trip with a visit to Paris, the City of Lights, which includes a visit to The Louvre and the Musee d’Orsay.

We are excited to announce that enrollment for this tour is now open.

The majority of space is reserved for OLP students, however we welcome parents, alumnae and friends of the Academy of Our Lady of Peace and the CSJs to also apply.

Space is limited and we hope to finalize our list of travelers by October 2015. Prices and other details can be accessed here.
