Course Description:
The ceramics class teaches hand-building techniques (pinch, coil, and slab methods). Students are taught the proper care and storage of clay and the wedging of the clay as a preparation for creative and quality projects. Glazing of the bisque ware is the final technique learned. Each student is required to do work outside of class, including sketchbook drawings, from direct observation as well as a written critical analysis paper of professional or museum artwork viewed in person.
