Course Description:

This course builds on the beginning ceramics course and stresses a more creative use of the materials. The students will study and learn to appreciate the history and current expressions of sculpture and ceramics, and learn to talk and write intelligently about the subject as well as learn how to make more advanced pieces. Each student is required to do work outside of class, including sketchbook drawings, from direct observation as well as a written critical analysis paper of professional or museum artwork viewed in person
