Alumnae Spotlight: Aida Soria ’99

By Stephanie Kanaski, Associate Director of Annual Giving

Lady Pilot, Aida Soria ’99, has a long-standing relationship with OLP. As a third generation San Diegan and SDSU alumna, she was raised in an OLP/ Saints household with her parents, siblings, and extended family attending these schools. As a little girl, Aida’s mother would visit her grandmother who worked at Our Lady of Peace as a maid and fate was sealed as OLP attendance became engrained in the family legacy. There was never a question that Aida would become future Pilot.

Aida took full advantage of every OLP opportunity, from basketball, yearbook, and Spring Sing. She gives merit to her OLP experience as the birthplace of her self-confidence and self-expression In fact, Aida currently works as a segment producer at Fox 5 and cites her role there as “an extension of Spring Sing: writing scripts, choreographing segments, and running back and forth between meetings.”

Aida is also a co-owner of Hola Swim, a local bathing suit line designed to fit women of all shapes and sizes. Hola Swim has been featured on the pages of British Vogue and showcased on the runway at New York Fashion Week.  An avid volunteer, she serves as the Vice President of the Centro Cultural de la Raza in Balboa Park and volunteers at her parish, Our Lady of Guadalupe in Logan Heights.  Aida shares how OLP friendships have influenced her life, “my family and my OLP sisters continue to be pillars of support. I couldn’t do what I do without them. They are consistently cheering me on.”

She continues to visit the campus and attend functions. When visiting OLP, she says, “I can truly say the charm has remained the same while the role of our young women have grown in all areas, including STEM and sports. I am proud to say I am a Pilot.”

Congratulations, Aida!
