Athletics Week of November 6-10

A Note of Gratitude from OLP Athletics
Thank you to all those who attended our Annual Golf and Tennis Tournament this past Monday at Loma Santa Fe Country Club. Your continued generosity and support of OLP Athletics is greatly appreciated. A special thank you to all of our student-athletes and their families who volunteered or donated items for prizes. Our team baskets were the talk of the tournament. All of you made this event a tremendous success! View Photos Here

Cross Country
Our runners had a fantastic meet at Morley on Thursday. They beat Patrick Henry by 3 points and almost every Pilot ran their season’s best time. Special shoutout to Alex Boren ‘21 for breaking 21 minutes and placing 8th overall in the meet. Chloe James ‘21, Claire Nowicki ‘21, Alex Hornick ‘20, Mariana Martinez ‘19, and Katya Cerny ‘19 led JV for great times as well.

This week, the Varsity team finished 3rd overall in CIF San Diego Section Division II. Catalin Yturralde ‘19 placed 4th overall. Brooke Ryback ‘21 and Catalin both qualify for Regionals happening next week. Best of luck, Pilots!

The Varsity Pilots fell to San Marcos High School 8-10 in a close quarterfinals match last Friday. This week, they competed in Western League Individuals. Singles player Jolie Morgan ‘21 made it to the semifinals on Thursday, finishing in the top 4 of the Western League and qualifying for CIF individuals next week. Deniz Guzeldere ‘18 and Olivia Lewis ‘18 will play for the 5th spot to get to CIF individuals as a doubles team. Good luck, Pilots!

It has been an exciting week for Varsity Volleyball, who seeded #8 in Division I, placing them against the #9 seeded team, San Dieguito Academy, this past Wednesday. After losing the first two sets, the Pilots came back to win the next three sets, advancing them to the quarterfinals. They will be playing #1 seed Point Loma on Saturday, November 4 at Point Loma at 5:00 pm. The cost to get into the game will be $9 for adults and $6 for students and seniors (student is defined as anyone age 5 through age 18; senior is defined as anyone age 60 or over). Come out and cheer on the Pilots!
