This year marks a pivotal point in OLP’s history, as we introduce our very first Competitive Dance Team. This year’s team is comprised of 18 extremely talented dancers, who are excited to share their talents, passion, and spirit with our OLP community. The girls have already been working hard for the new season, practicing all summer long since June, both on campus and off.
The team recently just got back from the West Coast Elite Summer Dance Experience in Anaheim, where they took classes and learned routines from famous teachers and choreographers in the dance industry, including Audrey Case, Jojo Gomez, Mark Meismer, Ade Obayami, Dusty Button, Gev Manuokian, Jay Jay Dixonbay, and many more!
Not only were they able to dance all day, but they met and bonded with many other dance teams from across Southern California, making great connections and friendships. Junior dance team member Olivia Kennedy ’20 received a Standout Dancer Award and was featured in the closing show; junior member Samantha Kennedy ’20 received an All Star Dancer award and an invitation to perform in Orlando, FL and Long Beach, CA; and sophomore Kaitlin Ordonio ’21 was a WCE Scholarship Finalist.
The girls had such an amazing time learning and growing at the camp, and are excited to bring what they learned back to OLP! Looking forward, the OLP Dance Team is eager to perform at the Welcome Back Assembly, as their debut to our school community. They will also continue to perform at school wide events, and will begin competition in January.
