Mrs. Jennifer Flynn

English Department

Education & Credentials:

  • MA in Education from Stanford University, 2008
  • BA in English from Santa Clara University, 2007

Jeni started her journey at OLP last year but has been teaching since 2008. She has taught children from various backgrounds, which has given her the opportunity to adopt the view that “Students will rise to the bar you set for them” – Mike Rose. Jeni enjoys building rapport with students and their families and using the classroom as an equitable space to celebrate culture and identity. During her graduate work at Stanford, the focus on teaching through a lens of social justice is what always inspired her to try and make a difference in the lives of so many children who needed grace and hope. She chose, and continues to choose, OLP because she believes in empowering young women to become leaders who embody the compassionate and strong charisms of the OLP mission. She is a teacher in the English Department who loves the chance to help students develop their own voice through reading, writing, and critical thinking. Her goal is to reignite a love of reading and help students become fearless readers who aren’t afraid to examine the human condition through storytelling. Outside of the classroom, Jeni has just recently become a first time mother of her son, Ethan James Flynn. Together with her husband Paul, and their two rescue dogs Leroy and Luna, they enjoy going to the beach and enjoying the beauty of San Diego.
