Frosh Dance Lessons

Dear Frosh Parents,

For the past 48 years, it has been a tradition for the OLP ninth grade class to participate in freshman dance lessons with St. Augustine High School (Saints). This activity provides an opportunity for the ninth grade students of OLP and Saints to learn Latin dances and to socialize in a supervised setting. This is an optional event, but we hope that your daughter will be able to attend if she wants to.

Each girl will sign up to attend ONE lesson. The girls may choose one of the following dates: Monday, September 28; Tuesday, September 29; Wednesday, September 30; or
Thursday, October 1. The lessons will take place in the Saints Gym which is on the corner of 32nd and Palm Streets. The lessons will be from 3:00 p.m. – 4:15 p.m. OLP does not provide transportation, so it is your responsibility to ensure that your daughter arrives at Saints on time. Please plan on arriving at Saints at 2:45 for check in. All students MUST be picked up NO LATER THAN 4:30 p.m.

The OLP/Saints dance lessons have been part of a long-standing, successful tradition at OLP. In order to ensure this year’s success, we need participants and their parents to adhere to the following guidelines:
1) Each student who wishes to participate must return a completed permission slip and $5.00 to her homeroom teacher by Wednesday , September 23, before the end of section. Since we have to divide up the students evenly, selection for the date of the lesson will be on a first come first served basis. STUDENTS WHO MISS THE DEADLINE WILL NOT PARTICIPATE.
2) Students attending dance lessons must attend school on that day and must adhere to the OLP uniform policy enforced during the school day.
3) Students must be picked up promptly after the lessons on Palm St. Please arrange for rides prior to the dance lesson day. It is very important that the girls be picked up on time. STUDENTS PICKED UP LATE WILL BE SUBJECT TO DISCIPLINARY ACTION.
4) Once a student has signed up for the lesson, her attendance is mandatory. If she does not attend, she will be considered truant unless prior notification from a parent has been issued.

If you would like your daughter to attend, please complete and return the attached permission slip along with the $5 fee (cash preferred, or checks made out to OLP). The form and money should be turned into your daughter’s section teacher.

Sincerely,

Ms. Ilene Nagem
