The National Honor Society (NHS) is the nation’s premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students. More than just an honor roll, NHS serves to recognize those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service and character. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since its beginning in 1921.
OLP will be accepting applications for membership into our chapter of NHS from February 1-15, 2017. Applications are evaluated on scholarship (a minimum 3.5 weighted cumulative GPA is required), leadership and service. In order to properly evaluate these characteristics, we ask that you complete the application thoroughly and thoughtfully. In addition to the application is a teacher recommendation sheet. You will need to request a recommendation from 3 separate teachers.
All applications with 3 recommendation forms must be submitted together in person to the registrar, Mr. Kim, no later than the end of the school day on February 15. Applications will not be accepted if submitted via email, placed in faculty boxes or returned late.
Please reach out to your counselor if you have any questions.
