New Faculty & Staff 2018-19


Karen Hsu, Athletic Trainer
Ms. Karen Hsu is originally from New Jersey and graduated from the University of Delaware with a Bachelors in Science with a concentration in Athletic Training. At UD she work with Blue Hen Football, men’s lacrosse, soccer, and baseball teams. After graduating, Karen spent a year in Alabama for an internship at Auburn University to work with women’s soccer and gymnastics.  She then moved to New York City to work in a clinical outreach setting for Professional Physical Therapy while treating student-athletes at Hudson Catholic High School. During this time she also treated various sports at New York University. Karen moved to San Diego in 2017 and took a position at La Costa Canyon High School. She’s been having a great time living out here, surfing, golfing, and enjoying the sunny state. Welcome to OLP Athletics Ms. Hsu!

Jessica (Jessie)  Mattson, Benefit & HR Coordinator
Jessie joins OLP in the Finance Office as the Benefit/HR coordinator.  Jessie grew up in Michigan and earned her bachelor’s degree in Business Management from the University of Florida.  Prior to coming to OLP, Jessie worked various roles in business offices from office manager to payroll specialist. After Michigan, she lived in Florida before settling down in San Diego with her husband, and son Gunar (5).  She enjoys spending time with her family, coaching her son as well as reading and outdoor activities. She is very excited to be part of the OLP community.

Cynthia Sanborn, Facilities Coordinator
Cindy joins OLP in the Facilities Department as the Facilities Coordinator. Cindy grew up in San Diego and earned her bachelor’s degree in Communications &  Marketing for San Diego State University. Prior to coming to OLP, Cindy worked for Nordstroms as part of their event planning team, Microsoft as a regional launch manager, and other various roles in the events and marketing industry. Cindy enjoys spending time with her family, her daughters Tristen (6) an avid ice skater, and Sammi (13) a newly certified ocean scuba diver keep her busy. Cindy is thrilled to join OLP as part of the Facilities Team.

Angel Silva, Facilities
Angel Silva will be joining the facilities department as Lead Maintenance. Angel earned his Bachelors in Science of Electrical-Mechanical Engineering at Universidad Panamericana in Mexico City, Mexico. Angel has been involved, and holds knowledge in, technology, CAD, Civil Engineering, Production Management and Facilities Management. His professional life has moved through the private, corporate sector, beginning with Sony and moving through the non-profit world, most recently with Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church. We are very excited to welcome Angel to campus and to our OLP team.


Bridget Borce, Science Department Instructor
Bridget Borce is  a San Diego native and a recent graduate of San Diego State University, where she earned her master’s degree in biology and bachelor’s degree in geology.  During graduate school, she worked as a TA for upper-division courses in genetics and evolution and taught paleobiology classes for Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth.  She is passionate about science education, especially for young women. At OLP, she is looking forward to collaborating with you all to create a positive learning environment for our students!

Kitrina (Kitt) Carr, Visual and Performing Arts Instructor
Kitrina Carr is a graduate of the class of 2010. She graduated from the University of California, Riverside with her Bachelors of Arts in English. Ms. Carr then attended San Diego State University receiving her Master’s Degree in English, emphasizing in Rhetorical Writing Studies. Ms. Carr’s passion and research focuses on gender performance and the expectations of the female character portrayed in literature. She has taught at SDSU and for the San Diego Community College District. Believing in the importance of women’s education, Ms. Carr is excited to be coming back to contribute to OLP and the future generation of female writers and thinkers.  

Anne-Marie Dicce, Visual and Performing Arts Instructor 

Dr. Anne-Marie Dicce is a music teacher and professional soprano who has taught in the San Diego area for the past 15 years. As an educator, Dr. Dicce has held numerous positions throughout Southern California, including the Beginning Choir Director at Canyon Crest Academy, the Voice Faculty at Villa
Musica Community Music Center, the Choral Director at Cuyamaca College, the Vocal Music Director at Coronado School for the Arts, the interim Choral Director at La Jolla Country Day School, and on the Voice Faculty at Scripps College in Claremont, CA. Dr. Dicce has performed as a soloist and choral artist throughout North America and Europe, most notably on tour in Norway and throughout Mexico, Bolivia, and Germany. She is a core member of a number of professional vocal ensembles, including the Bach Collegium San Diego, Oregon Bach Festival (Eugene, OR), True Concord Voices and Orchestra (Tucson, AZ), Conspirare (Austin, TX), Brevitas (Salt Lake City, UT), the Albuquerque Baroque Players, and the Sacramento Baroque Soloists.

Anne-Marie received her Doctor of Musical Arts (2009) and Master of Arts degrees (2004) in Vocal
Performance from UC San Diego, and her Bachelor’s degree in Music from Loyola Marymount
University in Los Angeles (2002). While at LMU, she was President of the LMU Choruses and very
involved in Campus Ministry as a cantor for weekly masses and the planning of music in liturgy. Her
doctoral dissertation included research in synaesthesia and the connection between early and
contemporary vocal music techniques. She is a proud alumna of St. Francis Catholic High School for
Girls in Sacramento (’98), and is very excited to be joining the OLP family!

Chris Moeller, Associate Director of Athletics & Physical Education Instructor
Mr. Chris Moeller has spent his entire professional career in education: as an administrator, teacher and coach. Mr. Moeller spent the past three years as the Principal of St. Charles Borromeo Academy in Pt. Loma. Prior to his time at St. Charles Borromeo, he served as the Middle School Dean of Students at La Jolla Country Day School and as the Assistant Principal at Marian/Mater Dei Catholic High School.  In his early years in education, Chris taught US History, World Cultures and Geography. He also coached varsity basketball, football, baseball and golf at Marian/Mater Dei Catholic and San Ysidro High Schools. Chris and his wife Ashley have three children: Maddie (11), Mason (10) and Molly (6). They are all very excited to be a part of the OLP community.

Alison Purpera, Religious Studies Instructor
Ali Purpera is originally from Lafayette, Louisiana, and has worked in Catholic education for the last 11 years.  She earned Bachelor’s Degrees in Theology and Religious Studies and Psychology from the University of San Diego. She went on to earn a Master’s Degree in Secondary Education from Providence College.  She started her career at Bishop Connolly High School in Fall River, MA as a Religion teacher. She also taught and served as Director of Service at the Academy of the Sacred Heart in Grand Coteau, LA, an all girls’ school founded by the Religious of the Sacred Heart.  Her most recent role is as Dean of Mission and Ministry at Cathedral Catholic High School, where she also has served as the Director for Retreats and Assistant Dean of Students. Ali is passionate about creating opportunities for students to encounter their faith and to be moved by compassion through service and justice.  She is thrilled to join the OLP family!

Allyson Woods, Counseling Department Chair
Allyson Wood has 16 years of experience serving in Catholic education. Almost half of that time has been spent in Lasallian schools. The Christian Brothers are dedicated to combining an excellent education with fostering the development of the whole person. There is an emphasis on social justice and providing opportunity for the poor and vulnerable.  In her career, she has been a teacher, a director of student life and a counselor. Her BA is in History & Religious Studies (from St. Mary’s College of California) and her MA/PPS is in School Counseling (from the University of Redlands). Allyson’s husband, Carlo, enthusiastically joins her in beginning a new leg of their journey in San Diego. They have three incredible children (two sons- 12, 11, and a daughter- 8) who are just as eager to embrace this opportunity. In her spare time, she enjoy reading and movies…The power of story is very integral to who she is and what she believes. Allyson can’t wait to be a part of the OLP community. It is with anticipation and excitement, that she looks forward to meeting each one of you.

Michelle Yang, Math Instructor
Michelle Yang is an OLP alumna, class of 2009, who has always had a passion for teaching math. She graduated from Cal Poly Pomona in 2013 with a degree in Mathematics Theory, emphasis in Secondary Education. Since then she has been private tutoring and pursuing her Masters in Education at USD which she will graduate with in May. She has just completed her first semester of student teaching at a 7th grade classroom in Chula Vista and is excited to return to our OLP community as a Math teacher for Spring semester.
