September 2019 Newsletter: Athletics

The OLP Varsity Golf Team started their season off with a decisive win against El Capitan High School at Singing Hills Golf Club. The Varsity Golf Team, made up of senior Maria Ines Acosta, Juniors Brooke Ryback and Becky Hild, Sophomores Maya Mendoza, Cassidy Matwiyoff, & Vivian Garcia, and Freshman Isabella Hernandez, is looking forward to another great season. In August, the Varsity Golf Team defeated Francis Parker at Riverwalk Golf Club for their second straight victory.

The OLP Tennis Team had some competitive tryouts the first week of school and are now practicing and preparing for the upcoming season. They are also getting ready for the First Serve Tournament on Saturday August 24 at Granite Hills High school. We’re looking forward to a great season!

The OLP Volleyball Team has been working hard gearing up for an exciting season. It is our goal to win our conference this year!

Competitive Cheer
While supporting the preseason #2 ranked Saints football team, our ladies are choreographing their competition routines for multiple State and National Championship tournaments. The 3rd annual CIF Cheer Championship is December 7. As CIF runner-up 2 years in a row, the Pilots are locked in for the title.

Competitive Dance
The OLP Dance Team has had a busy summer preparing for the new season and now the teams are getting ready for the start of Saints Football Season! This year, both teams will be cheering alongside our OLP Cheer Teams at football games, as well as performing at halftime. In the midst of it all, we are also beginning to prepare for competition season. We look forward to continuing to bring spirit and energy to our school community at various events and assemblies!

Cross Country
Cross Country is off to a great start. We have over 40 runners this season and we are working hard to prepare for our first meet at Rohr Park on September 6. Most of our varsity is returning from last season and we have a group of strong freshman runners. We are looking forward to a great season.
