Week of September 10-14

Counselor Corner

Please join the counselors for two great events this week.

The first Coffee with Counselors is scheduled for September 12th at 8 am in the Carondelet Library. Come learn about the grade-level programming available to support your daughter's academic, college/career, and social/emotional needs. The counselors will also introduce freshman parents to Naviance and end with a discussion about the book, The Gift of Failure by Jessica Lahey.

Senior parents interested in learning more about the college application process and how the OLP counseling department supports students through it should attend Senior Parent College Information Night on Thursday, September 13th at 6:30 pm in the OLP Theater. This event will be livestreamed for those unable to attend. Parents watching via livestream can ask questions and they will be answered in real time.

Jessica Lahey Visits OLP!

Parents and Friends of OLP, including all partner school parents and Saints' parents are invited to join us for an evening with New York Times best-selling author and columnist, Jessica Lahey! While the event is free, a ticket is required. RSVP today as tickets are going quickly!

Mass of the Holy Spirit

Join the OLP community of students, parents, faculty, and staff for our Mass of the Holy Spirit on Tuesday, September 11, at 11:00 am in the Holy Family Event Center.

Senior Tribute Ad - Yearbook

Parents of seniors, this is your chance to share with friends, family and the greater OLP community all of the changes and accomplishments your daughter has made in the past three years. A Senior Tribute Ad is the perfect way to acknowledge your daughter's achievements, and make her senior yearbook even more special. The Senior Tribute Ad deadline is October 9th.

Parent Volunteers Wanted!

Mrs. Wyatt is looking for parent volunteers to supervise college visits on the OLP campus from September 10 to November 2.

Parents will be assigned a weekly, 1-hour time slot to chaperone college rep visits on the OLP campus per our needs. We are not able to accommodate requests to chaperone specific colleges.
Visits occur Monday-Thursday at 9am, 10:15am and 1:30pm; Fridays at 9am, 10am, and 12pm. You would need to be available every week during that time slot.
The parent volunteer's role is to ensure students are behaving in an appropriate, respectful manner during the college visitation.
Interested parents will be contacted by Mrs. Sanborn, regarding their availability and will be required to attend a mandatory training workshop and submit live scan and TB test results.

This is a great opportunity to broaden your "college knowledge"!

All in for OLP is off to a great start, with our Frosh Class of '22 in the lead with the highest participation! The class competition will close on Friday, October 5 at 1:00 pm, and the class with 100% participation AND the most money raised will win a FOAM PARTY! Other incentives for the class competition can be found online. Already made a gift of $25 or more? Find our advancement team on Upper Plaza on Tuesdays and Thursdays to pick up your shirt. Athletics Announcements
This Week's Recap:
JV: University City was no match for the JV Tennis who continued to command the court. All players contributed in an incredible way to the 16-2 win with standout performances coming from doubles team Ella Brazil '20/Greta Drachenberg '20 and singles player Larisa Laborin '20. Up next is a match against Bishop's on Monday and the pilots are ready to continue this winning streak.
Varsity: The Varsity Tennis Pilots followed up their victory last Thursday with another great showing on Tuesday, defeating Pacific Ridge 12-6. Each player showed valiant efforts and determination, digging deep to pull out every set they could. Standout players for this match include, #1 singles, Jolie Morgan '21, #3 singles, Sanjana Mody '19, #2 doubles, Luisa Garcia '21/Rebeca Gonzalez '20, and #3 doubles, Allie Stowe '19/Sanjana Paye '19. The Pilots came out strong again on Thursday, defeating Mater Dei 12-6 and earning their third victory in a row. In what was the toughest match yet, the girls fought hard and brought their A-games to take a commanding lead early on. A noteworthy performance came from #1 singles, Jolie Morgan '21, who won her first two rounds and battled in her third round from 2-5 down, coming up just short in the tiebreaker that decided the set. Other standout players include #2 doubles, Jackie Rahimzadeh '20/Hannah Mier y Teran Leon '20, and #3 doubles, Allie Stowe '19/Sanjana Paye '19. The varsity team will be back on the court Monday, hosted by Bishops. Way to go Pilots!
JV: The JV Blue Golf Team suffered their second defeat of the season Wednesday. Despite lowering their team-best score by 29 shots, they fell just 4 shots short to La Jolla High School. It was a great effort by the Pilots and they will look to rebound against University City next week. JV White defeated UC on Tuesday 284-298.
Varsity: Sophomore Brook Ryback '21 led all scores with a one-over-par 37 on Thursday as the Pilots took on defending league champions Scripps Ranch. Maria Ines Acosta '20 and Becky Hild '21 played great for the Pilots and the highlight of the match was a long chip in birdie by freshmen Maya Mendoza '22.

OLP Volleyball had a quiet week on the competition front but is fully prepared for this weekend's September Classic Tournament at Westview High School
