Welcome New Faculty and Staff


Sara Bradley, Math Teacher: Sara earned her Juris Doctor from the University of San Diego School of Law in 2013 and went on to practice product liability law at Morrison and Foerster, LLP. She and her husband welcomed their daughter, Sylvie, in November 2014, and since then, Sara has enjoyed staying home with Sylvie. She looks forward to returning to teach at OLP.

Krystle Cabrera, English Teacher and Volleyball Coach: Krystle has been teaching English at the high school level for over eight years and has been coaching for over 12 years. Prior to coaching, she had a successful career at Midwestern State and University of Texas at Arlington as an outside hitter, and holds three National Championship titles in NJCVA, NCSVA, and USAV. Since graduating, she has also completed her Masters in School Counseling, while continuing to compete on the beach volleyball tour.

Molly Cunningham, Math Teacher: Molly attended Whittier College for both undergraduate and graduate studies, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and a Master’s degree in Education. Her most recent studies focused primarily on gender stereotypes within the STEM fields and she is excited to be a part of the all-­girls student community at OLP to help encourage the movement of young women towards the math and science fields.

Christian Malecot, Entrepreneurial Teacher: Christian earned his Bachelor’s degree from the University of San Diego where he participated in Entrepreneurial studies. Most recently he has worked alongside his family in their family business, The French Gourmet. He is excited to teach the Entrepreneurial Zero Block class first semester.

Tamara Paige, Music & Orchestra Teacher: Tamara attended Arizona State University where she majored in Music Education with a String Focus. She most recently served as a string teacher and the Lancer Orchestra Director at Francis Parker School for grades 6-­12. Over the years Tamara has conducted the Pit Orchestra for California Youth Conservatory Theater Company for numerous shows, and is the founder and director of Vivace Strings, a training ensemble grades 4-8.


Jorge Carillo, Maintenance Team: Jorge has been working in partnership with OLP now for many years. Jorge’s experience as an apprentice painter and handyman coupled with his strong work ethic and solution-oriented personality make him a valuable member of the maintenance team.

Kari Hooker, Registrar: Kari is our new registrar and counseling assistant. She graduated from UCSD and worked for 10 years at Cathedral Catholic High School in their counseling department, planning their college fair and assisting the counselors with a wide variety of counseling related assignments.

Steve La Marca, Campus Supervisor: Steve comes from an extensive background in safety and security. He has worked for the State of California Alcoholic Beverage Control, the Police Force in South Gate and Escondido, the Navy Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection Program and the Worldwide Protective Services Mobile Training Team. Steve is certificated in numerous relatable courses including advanced medical training, tactical skills, and crisis avoidance and management.

Shannon Morrison, Donor Relations Manager for Institutional Advancement: Prior to joining OLP, Shannon served as the Event Coordinator at UCSD for two years, and spent six years in various fundraising roles at The NAT. Shannon graduated with a BA in American Literature and Art History from UCLA.

Alexis Rodriguez, Associate Director of Advancement: Alexis has worked in nonprofit fundraising and community outreach for over a decade, most recently as Director of Development at the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. She received her MA in Nonprofit Leadership and Management from USD and a BA in Communications from San Diego State with a minor in Sociology.

Athletic Partners

Anna Jayo, Varsity Volleyball Assistant Coach: ­Anna has seven years coaching experience and comes to us from Coast Volleyball Club. She was a starting setter for her college team at Notre dame de Namur University, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Communications. She also earned a certification in personal training from the National Personal Training Institute.

Meghan Penolio, Junior Varsity Volleyball Head Coach: ­Meghan also joins us from Coast Volleyball Club, where she has been coaching teams in the 12-14 age groups since September 2015. Meghan played all four years in high school at Mar Vista, and went on to play Outside Hitter/DS at Missouri Western State University for two years. Her playing career was cut short by injury, so she returned to San Diego to further her education in Physical Therapy.

Troy Lake, Freshman Volleyball Head Coach: Troy has been coaching volleyball since 2007. He has coached in the San Dieguito County, San Diego City School Systems and club coaching at both the high school and middle school levels. His coaching style brings real-world competitive spirit and encourages a balance of self­-discipline & team reliance.
