Kelly Culver has been teaching dance at OLP since 2017. In 2017, she started the Dance program here at OLP, which now offers four different levels of dance: Introduction to Dance, Dance I/II, Dance III/IV, and Advanced Dance Honors. In 2018, Kelly started the OLP Dance Team, which is a Nationally recognized competitive and performance team, offering a JV and Varsity Level. She loves building a dance program that strives to inspire & empower girls to find strength, individuality, confidence, and an outlet through dance. In December 2021, she will receive her MA in Dance Education from the University of Northern Colorado, after completing her thesis project focused on fostering a positive body image in teenage female dancers.
Kelly has been dancing since the age of two, both recreationally and competitively. She attended Cathedral Catholic High School and was a member of the Varsity Dance Team during her four years there. She continued to pursue dance at UC Santa Barbara, where she received a BFA in Dance and a BA in Communication. As a member of the traveling UCSB Dance Company, she was fortunate enough to be able to dance on tour in New York and Italy. After graduating from UCSB, a scholarship to the Dance Education Laboratory at the 92nd Street Y put her back in New York City, where she continued to learn about the creative art of teaching dance. After returning to Southern California, she spent a long time teaching and choreographing in private studios before coming to OLP.
