Join us for a ZOOM Italy Information Session Tuesday, November 19th at 6:30PM
Dr. Kevin Petti leads students on a truly unique educational travel journey from Rome to Venice, fusing the culture of Italy with its connection to art, and the history of human anatomy in the medical curriculum.
This amazing travel experience is preceded by an online asynchronous course to place the travel component into academic context. Students earn five units of school credit upon completion of both the online and travel components. This small group, interdisciplinary program follows the world’s greatest masterpieces from an anatomical perspective, revealing how the sculptors and painters from centuries ago, such as Michelangelo and Leonardo, were also students of anatomy.
In this Jubilee Year (2025), students pilgrimage to Saint Peter’s Basilica to receive the grace of a plenary indulgence, and bathe in the Peace and Goodness of Assisi, home to Saint Francis, Patron Saint of Italy. Students visit the Basilica of Saint John in Lateran, the church of the Pope in Rome, and the Scala Sancta (Holy Stairs), the steps leading up to Pontious Pilate that Jesus ascended on His way to trial and Passion. Connecting art, science, and our Roman Catholic identity is the theme of this unique course, while also offering all that Italy has to offer, such as the world’s greatest food, the fountains of Rome, and the canals of Venice!
