Sara Osmus is a native San Diegan who grew up in Poway. She has been in education since 2010 after receiving her teaching credential and M.Ed. from UCSD. She started her career as an English teacher at Correia Middle School in the San Diego Unified School District before making the move to Catholic education. She then taught at Holy Family School for two years before moving to Cathedral Catholic High School, where she has spent the last eight years. At Cathedral Catholic she taught a variety of English classes, served as Yearbook advisor, and also as an assistant Cross Country coach. Sara transitioned to an administrative position in 2019, fulfilling the role of Assistant Dean of Students.
Sara believes in being inspired, and in inspiring others. As a leader and teacher she wants to inspire students to wonder, to have a voice, to believe in themselves, and to be changemakers. She is an advocate for technology in the classroom, as it can encourage students to collaborate and think creatively, also offering a variety of ways for students to amplify their voices. The Academy of Our Lady of Peace aligns perfectly with Sara’s philosophy as an educator. She wants students to live their faith, love their neighbor, experience differing perspectives, stand for justice, and change the world for the better. Sara can’t help but feel the excitement of being part of the OLP community, getting the opportunity to work with like-minded leaders and individuals to inspire young women to become engaged members of society striving to make a difference in the world.
