Overseas International Program

Since the founding of the Academy of Our Lady of Peace in 1882, the school has celebrated a rich history in partnership with our Baja California families, many who are fourth and fifth-generation OLP alumnae legacies. Our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion is central to the mission of the Academy of Our Lady of Peace. In our ongoing efforts to cultivate a diverse and inclusive environment, we have created a special partnership to provide outreach and access to girls interested in attending the Academy of Our Lady of Peace from countries in Asia, Africa, Australia, and Europe. We have partnered with International Education Management (IEM) to help us identify qualified, mission-appropriate, talented young women. Recognizing that these girls are traveling a significant distance from their country of origin, often without their families, IEM will take on the role of temporary guardian and identify homestays in the greater San Diego area to support these students. The outcome and the benefit are that by day, students attend the Academy of Our Lady of Peace and by night and on weekends, they are immersed in an American family experience.

For students and their families interested in the Academy of Our Lady of Peace who reside in Mexico who require an F1 visa, there is no change to our current application process, please visit our Application Process page.

For students and their families interested in the Academy of Our Lady of Peace who reside in Asia, Africa, Australia, Europe, or elsewhere overseas who require an F1 visa, please visit the IEM website.

In order for students to have the best experience and success in studying abroad, we expect our students to be able to read and speak English fluently. Students can showcase their English skills by submitting their most recent English proficiency test scores. Or the student can get an English evaluation from IEM to show English proficiency.

OLP empowers young women in an innovative learning environment. It is committed to helping girls navigate the complex world of STEM alongside our commitment to the Visual and Performing Arts. STEAM is a core principle integral to the education of all our girls.

No. OLP would prefer to enroll students who will attend for at least an entire school year.

The Academy of Our Lady of Peace is a Catholic school; however, not all students who attend our school profess faith in Catholicism. We admit students of any color, race, ethnic origin, or faith to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities accorded or made available to students at the school. And we do ask that all applicants be open to hearing about Catholicism as it is an integral part of our curriculum for all subjects. All students are required to attend a chapel service either once a week or every other week, depending upon the school’s schedule, and to be enrolled in a Theological studies class during each year they attend OLP.

We do not have dormitories on campus, but we partner with International Education Management (IEM). IEM provides legal guardianship and other services for international students, including a homestay in the local area. IEM interviews the students and families to find the best living environment for them. The best way to learn a new culture and language is to be immersed in that culture. Living with an American family is a wonderful way to do this!

We encourage our international students to take AP courses! With teacher recommendations, many international students take multiple AP courses.
