OLP Athletics Wellness Program
Conducting an education-based athletic program requires a tremendous amount of adaptability. It is also apparent that we need to get our student-athletes back into action even if there is uncertainty over actual competitions and seasons of sport. To that end, OLP Athletics is introducing the OLP Athletics Wellness Program to ensure that our students have the opportunity to continue to be active participants in athletics. The first two sports to begin under this program are Volleyball and Basketball at the beginning of this month with more sports to come including a strength and conditioning program. For more information on OLP Athletics Wellness Program, please email [email protected].

Cheer
We are happy to announce that OLP Traditional Competitive Cheer is also starting this month. Coach Popp and Coach Claxton are excited! This year, OLP Varsity Cheer will be defending our CIF Champion title in the non-tumbling division. OLP Cheer along with OLP Dance were the only two teams we were able to roster last Spring during the pandemic. We are all excited with finally being able to restart one of our largest and most visible athletic programs.

Dance
The OLP Dance Team is back! For the past few weeks the girls have been working hard getting back into competitive dance conditioning. This past week they started their competition choreography. Our guest choreographers are Zooming into practice and virtually teaching our teams their routines. Virtual competitions are scheduled to begin in December & January. This past week, JV learned a lyrical & pom routine from former SDSU Dance Team Captain Rachel Hanson.

Esports
OLP’s first ever Esports team is taking flight. OLP Gaming took part in their first Rocket League scrimmage against CT Orange High School this month. The team was so happy to start competing as a team against other schools. Founding members of OLP Gaming are Czarina Datiles ’23, Peyton Brown ’22, and, team captain, senior Brianna Armendariz-Diaz. The team keeps growing with the addition of Sophomore Isabel Borossay to the squad. The team is currently 1-1 in league play. Our opponents are consistently surprised that we are an all-girls’ team. League matches take place on Thursdays at 4:00 pm. We are working on launching our own Twitch channel to stream our matches. More to come!

If you are interested in joining the OLP Esports program, please contact Mr. Gonzalez at [email protected].
