Basketball
The Pilot Hoopers are excited to be back in the gym. The Pilots will be led this year by seniors Mallory Downing, Chloe James, Claire Nowicki, and Laura Vazquez.

Cheer
After weeks of practice, Cheer is back on the sidelines for our brother school St. Augustine High School. JV will be taking the field this week along with Varsity at Cathedral Catholic for the Holy Bowl! Go Cheer Pilots!

Esports
OLP’s Esports expanded this season with new games and consoles. With new options for games, such as Fifa 21 and Super Smash Brothers, they have been able to find games that they find most interesting and fun. They have scrimmage matches going on weekly, and they have developed their communication to improve their scores. This season they have made so many memories! Team bonding is something that has been so natural, creating a team that can trust one another and works well together.

Golf
The varsity golf team is off to an outstanding 5-0 start to the season. On Monday, March 22 the golf team took on perennial league champions Scripps Ranch at Riverwalk Golf Club. The Pilots won by a very close three-shot margin, 210-213. Brooke Ryback ’21, Sienna Duggan ’24, Maya Mendoza ’22, Vivian Garcia ’22, Cassidy Matwiyoff ’22, Isabella Hernandez ’23, and Giselle Leon ’24 have been playing excellent golf and working hard to get better each week. The team has one more match before Easter Break against Cathedral Catholic at Santaluz Country Club.

Tennis
The JV tennis team has been starting off the season strong with two amazing wins! They played their first match of the season in early March against Santana High School and won 14-3. Last week they played against University City and won 11-1! On March 24, Varsity Tennis won 12-5 and JV won 17-0 against Helix High School! After spring break, we will officially be starting to play league matches and we’ll see some nail-biting matches against La Jolla, Coronado, and Scripps Ranch. OLP/Saints Varsity tennis team is also off to a great start. They have a winning record of 4-1, only losing a close match to The Bishop’s School! On March 23, they had a huge win against one of their toughest competitors, Coronado High School, winning by just one set. Stand-out players include seniors Jolie Morgan and Isabella Gelastopoulos who are enjoying an undefeated season so far. We wish them and the rest of their teammates continued success. All of our Pilots are playing strong and having a great time on the court!

Soccer
The Varsity Pilot Soccer Team, led by senior captains Chrysanthe Frangos and Sydney Pack, were very excited to get back out on the pitch. We have kicked off the season with two wins and a tie. We beat Francis Parker (2-1), Steele Canyon (2-0), and tied Torrey Pines (1-1). Our backline anchored by Brooke Gierczak ’22 and Sarah Melcher ’22 have been stellar. Leading the way in the attack has been Megan Fuson ’22 with three goals and two assists, and Haley Phillips ’21 with two goals and one assist.

Softball
Softball has officially started. Their first game is coming up this week! We wish the Softball Pilots good luck on their season!

Volleyball
Volleyball has had a short action-packed season of high-level competitive matches. The girls have been practicing and working hard to get better every week. Their short season will end at the end of this month, however, it’s great to see our volleyball players back in action!

Swim & Dive
Your OLP Pilot swim team has had an awesome season so far with huge dual meet wins, all while having a ton of fun in and out of the water! At the team’s last meet against University City, they had close to 30 season best times, including multiple cuts that qualify the team for the Championship meet later this month! The coaches are so impressed with how strong the OLP team is getting and how much each athlete is improving. With the City Conference Championship meet coming up in a few weeks, the team is exactly where they want to be!
